"The fool doth think he is wise, but the wise man knows himself to be a fool"
-William Shakespeare
Recently on a last minute road trip to the northeast with no particular
destination in mind, and hours of time to think, talk and listen, my wife and I listened to a book on tape which challenged us to seek out
wisdom.
“For whoso findeth me (wisdom) findeth
life.”
Proverbs 8:32a
While we don’t claim to be wise, or even experienced people, we have a strong desire to live life to its fullest potential; therefore, we are setting out
on an adventure to search for wisdom which applies to our life at the current
time, exploring and paying attention
to details around us, seeking out wisdom where she may be found.
“Doth
not wisdom cry? And understanding put forth her voice? She standeth in the
top of high places by the way in the places of the paths.”
Proverbs 8:1-2
So how do we plan on seeking out wisdom? Reading, observing
and listening.
·
Reading is one of the best ways to obtain information and wisdom. Biographies and autobiographies are often packed full of wisdom. Although, often it is disguised and sometimes appears in the personality of the person, or
sometimes as almost a side note: a feature mentioned. Some writings are blatantly
blaring wisdom, as I read they insights just jump off the page.
·
Listening ………………………
·
Observing and paying attention to details around
us. Watching people, how they handles situations we might find ourselves in
someday.
It has been said that the best way to gain wisdom is through experience; however, perhaps the truly best way is through other people's mistakes and successes.
DISCLAIMER: We do not in any way think we have or ever will cover all the aspects of Wisdom...This is simply a journal of sorts on our personal journey.
